ISLAND CREST

Hong Kong, 2019

Island Crest is a residential project located in Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong.

Our design utilizes glass walls instead of solid walls to subdivide the space, making the apartment feel larger and more open. The glass study room becomes a part of the living room, providing an extended view of the harbor and maximizing natural light into the apartment.

The warm color material palette was inspired by the client’s previous home - a combination of different wood veneer finishes, dark stainless steel metal trims, glass partitions and walnut flooring.

As a unifying design feature, a waist-level dark material “band” flows from one room to another, linking individual elements together.

We incorporated details such as cabinet doors with curved edges to avoid sharp corners in the living area.

Individual elements such as drawers, shelves, door handles, light switches & electrical outlets are placed on the band, creating a new datum line for all the controls at home.

All wardrobe doors are fitted with a custom designed dark stainless steel door handle for durability and protection.
