The Spiral is envisioned as a building rising out of the uneven topography of the Mid-Levels. It is inspired by the cinematic qualities of the post-modern city, expressing movement along a path, mimicking its surroundings by turning corners, referencing old traditions in the area, recognizing local rituals, linking movement established in the past, while reflecting the contemporary environment like a film strip wrapping around its exterior, documenting changes of the city.
